Returns, Refunds & Cancellations

Clear conditions for cancelling, modifying a reservation, and requesting refunds.

At El Anillo Rent Car, we establish a clear and consistent policy for cancellations, refunds, and returns, so that you know your rights and conditions before confirming your reservation.

01 Reservation Cancellation

We understand that travel plans can change. Our cancellation policy seeks a fair balance between flexibility for the customer and the planning of our fleet. The amount withheld depends on how far in advance the cancellation is requested relative to the agreed delivery date and time:

The penalty for late cancellation is because, with the reservation close to its date, the vehicle remains blocked in our calendar and cannot be reassigned to another customer.

If you are still unsure of your dates, we recommend rescheduling your reservation instead of cancelling it (see Section 2): this way you retain the value of what you paid and avoid these penalties.

02 Modifications and Rescheduling

If your plans change, we recommend rescheduling your reservation instead of cancelling it. By notifying us with due notice, you can postpone your rental to another date or time of year when you decide to travel with greater peace of mind, retaining the value of what you have already paid and avoiding cancellation penalties.

The reservation date may be rescheduled only once. Rescheduling is subject to fleet availability: if the new date corresponds to a higher rate (for example, high season), the difference will be charged; if it corresponds to a lower rate, the corresponding adjustment will be applied. A second date-change request will be treated according to the cancellation policy in Section 1.

You may also request changes to the vehicle or the delivery location, subject to availability.

03 No-Show

If the customer does not show up to receive the vehicle on the agreed date and time, without having cancelled or reported a delay, it will be considered a no-show and 100% of the reservation value will be withheld, the same as a last-minute cancellation, since the vehicle remained reserved and unavailable to other customers.

04 Early Vehicle Return

If the customer returns the vehicle before the agreed date, they may request an evaluation of a refund for the unused days. The refund for early return is subject to the conditions of the contracted rate and will be processed in accordance with Law No. 358-05 on the Protection of Consumer Rights.

05 Refunds

When a refund applies:

  • It will be made to the same card or payment method used in the original transaction.
  • The crediting time is approximately seven (7) to fifteen (15) business days, depending on the card-issuing bank.
  • The refunded amount will correspond to the payment minus the penalties or applicable charges under this policy.

06 Security Deposit

The security deposit held at the start of the rental is not a final charge. It is a temporary hold that is released after the vehicle is returned under the agreed conditions. A charge will only be applied to that deposit in the event of damages, missing items, fines, or other items provided for in the agreement. The release of the deposit may take several business days depending on the issuing bank.

By confirming their reservation, the customer declares that they have read and accepted this Returns, Refunds, and Cancellations Policy.
