01 Purpose and Acceptance

These Terms & Conditions govern the motor vehicle rental agreement between El Anillo Rent Card, S.R.L. (the "Lessor") and the customer (the "Renter"). By confirming a reservation and/or signing the rental agreement, the customer declares that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms, as well as our privacy, security, delivery, returns, and cancellation policies.

02 Driver Requirements

• Minimum age: 21 years. Some premium categories require 25 years or older.
• Valid driver's license. For foreign drivers, the license from their country of origin is accepted during the period authorized for tourists.
• Valid identity document or passport.
• Credit or debit card in the driver's name for the security deposit.

03 Additional Drivers

Only persons registered and authorized in the rental agreement may drive the vehicle. Every additional driver must meet the same requirements and present their documentation at the time of signing.

04 Rates, Currency, and Payment

Rates are agreed upon at the time of booking. Prices shown in U.S. dollars (USD) are for the convenience of the international traveler; the charge is processed in Dominican Pesos (RD$ / DOP) at the prevailing exchange rate, or in your card's home currency when you use the dynamic currency conversion (DCC) option. All rates are subject to the 18% Tax on the Transfer of Industrialized Goods and Services (ITBIS), in accordance with Dominican law.

05 Security Deposit

Upon receiving the vehicle, a refundable security deposit is held on the customer's card (pre-authorization), according to the vehicle class:

The hold is placed on a credit or debit card. A cash deposit (US$ or RD$) is accepted only when you pick up the car at our Higüey office, always with a signed receipt, and it is returned in full after the return inspection.

The deposit is a temporary hold released after the vehicle is returned under the agreed conditions. It may be applied to fuel, cleaning, fines, tolls, accessories, the applicable deductible, or any charge under the Damage Charge Schedule (Annex C). The deposit does not constitute the customer's maximum liability.

06 Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Optional Protections

El Anillo Rent Car does not sell insurance. All vehicles are covered by our fleet policy with MultiSeguros. We offer Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) plans that limit the amount for which the customer is liable for accidental bodywork damage. Prices and deductibles are set per vehicle class. The deductible is the maximum the customer pays per covered event; minor damages are charged according to the Damage Charge Schedule (Annex C), which is usually far less.

What CDW covers: accidental damage to bodywork, paint, bumpers, doors, hood, trunk and lights resulting from collision, and theft of the vehicle, subject to the deductible and to compliance with the rental agreement.

What CDW does not cover (unless Glass and Tire protection or the Full Package is purchased): tires, wheels and hubcaps; windshield, windows, mirrors and lights broken by impact; undercarriage, roof and antenna; interior (burns, stains, tears, odors, water or sand damage); keys and accessories. In addition, no protection applies to damage caused by driving under the influence, an unregistered driver, prohibited use (unpaved roads, beaches, rivers, flooded areas, cross-border), gross negligence, or failure to report an incident within 24 hours or to obtain a DIGESETT report when third parties or theft are involved. Full exclusions are listed in the rental agreement (clauses 4, 6 and 7).

Optional protections

• Glass and Tire protection (sold separately): covers windshield, windows, mirror glass, lights broken by road impact, tires, wheels and hubcaps, with no deductible. Excludes damage from prohibited use or driving on a flat tire.
• Full Package: CDW Premium (zero deductible) + Glass + Tires, at a discounted daily rate and with a lower security deposit. No administrative fee and no loss-of-use charge apply under the Full Package.

Damage Charge Schedule, normal wear and loss of use

Minor damages are charged per part (door, fender, bumper, hood, etc.) according to the severity level — light (polish), repaint, straighten and repaint, or replacement — at the fixed amounts set in the Damage Charge Schedule (Annex C), which is attached to every rental agreement and available at our office or by WhatsApp on request. A part with several damages is charged once, at the highest level. When damage is covered by CDW, the customer pays the lower of the schedule amount and the applicable deductible.

Normal wear is never charged: scratches under 2 cm that do not go through the paint, stone chips under 3 mm, interior marks removable by normal cleaning, and normal tire wear.

Loss of use: when a repair takes more than one day, the daily rate in force is charged for each day the vehicle is out of service, up to a maximum of 5 days. Not applicable under CDW Premium or the Full Package. An administrative fee of RD$2,000 (≈ USD $35) applies when an insurance claim is processed, except under CDW Premium or the Full Package.

Evidence and disputes: the vehicle condition is documented with a joint photo/video inspection at delivery and at return, signed in the digital checklist. Any charge is notified in writing within 48 hours of return with photographs and the applicable schedule item. The customer may dispute a charge in writing within 5 business days; the customer's rights before Pro Consumidor remain unaffected.

07 Fuel and Mileage

• Fuel: full-to-full policy. The vehicle is delivered with a full tank and must be returned at the same level.
• Mileage: unlimited, within the territory of the Dominican Republic.

08 Use of the Vehicle

The Renter agrees to:

• Drive the vehicle responsibly and in accordance with Law No. 63-17 on Mobility, Land Transportation, Traffic, and Road Safety.
• Not drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or substances that impair their ability.
• Not sublet, assign, or use the vehicle for unlawful purposes, competitions, or unauthorized paid transportation.
• Not take the vehicle out of the national territory or drive on unsuitable terrain, except for vehicles enabled for this purpose and with express authorization.
• Allow driving only by the drivers authorized in the agreement.

09 Grace Period

A grace period of sixty (60) minutes over the agreed return time is granted. After that hour, each late hour is charged at one fifth (1/5) of the daily rental rate, including the grace hour. From the fifth (5th) hour late, one additional full rental day is charged, including the protection (CDW or Full Package) selected.

10 Damage, Accidents, and Theft

In the event of an accident, third-party damage, or theft, the Renter must immediately notify El Anillo Rent Car and the competent authorities (DIGESETT / National Police) and obtain the corresponding police report, an essential requirement for processing any claim. Upon returning the vehicle, a joint inspection will be carried out to determine its condition.

11 Fines and Traffic Violations

The Renter is responsible for all fines, traffic violations, tolls, and penalties incurred during the rental period. Such charges may be deducted from the security deposit or billed to the customer when received after the return.

12 Renter's Liability

The Renter is responsible for the care of the vehicle during the rental period and for any damage not covered by the contracted liability reduction plan, up to the corresponding deductible limit, as well as for the loss of accessories, documents, or vehicle keys.

13 Data Protection

The processing of the customer's personal data is carried out in accordance with Law No. 172-13 and is detailed in our Privacy Policy, available on this website.

14 Tax Receipts

El Anillo Rent Car issues the corresponding electronic tax receipts (e-CF) in accordance with Law No. 32-23 and the provisions of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII).

15 Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic, including the Civil Code regarding leasing, Law No. 358-05 on Consumer Protection, Law No. 63-17 on Mobility and Road Safety, and Law No. 126-02 on Electronic Commerce, Documents, and Digital Signatures. For any dispute, the parties submit exclusively to the jurisdiction of the ordinary courts of Higüey, La Altagracia.
